Ocean Park @ Hong Kong

Last week i had been to Ocean park in Hong Kong with a couple of Indian friends who are here for a short business trip. I am not here to use too many cliches to describe the park, but i cant resist saying the park was just amazing. Well there is not much to see there. Everything out there needs to be tried out and felt. Roller coasters, raging river, Abyss, Eagle etc are the rides one should experience. Especially Abyss had been the best experience for me so far. Its an elevator kind of structure attached to a pole in the open air. About 100-150 Mt's height. It takes you to that height and falls off from there. You will come down like a free falling body [ you can calculate your velocity as sq rt.(mgh), by neglecting air resistance for simplicity sake..] Completely controlled by air pressure, it drops you down almost till the bottom of the pole and raises up again immediately (pumped by the air pressure). It kind of shakes you up and down for 3 times before you get down.

I had my first roller coaster (referred as RC hereafter) ride in hong kong. There are 2 RCs in ocean park. One of them, called Dragon, is the bigger one and for some reason it was not functional when we visited the park. So we had to get into the smaller roller coaster. It had some high definition cameras to capture photographs while on RC ride. It was very difficult to control the expression while on RC ride. The best thing about the visit to Ocean Park is the weather. It was cool through out the day with temperates hovering around 10 degrees ( not Kelvin, Celsius :)...).

Raging river is another nice ride in a boat-like structure moving on the track submerged in water. You will feel like you are rowing in a river. I didn't attempt the raging river ride because of the cool weather.

The highlight was Abyss. Its a perfect beginning if you want to try more adventurous stuff (like Bangui jump etc) in future.

This weekend we are planning to visit some places in China. It all depends on whether we would get visa at the right time. Will post the updates soon ...
